Exploring Museums

Florence boasts many prestigious museums, located in the historic center and within easy walking distance from each of them. We suggest starting from the Uffizi Museum considering a visit of about 3 hours. The Bargello Museum takes less time to visit. It mainly exhibits sculptural works by the greatest Renaissance artists. Another museum that we absolutely recommend is The Pitti Palace. If you have several days available, we suggest you buy the 5 Days single ticket valid for 5 days for Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens. See the links below to the official websites where you can buy all the various tickets available.

The most visited museum in Florence. It is rightly considered one of the most important museums in the world. We recommend to buy your ticket in advance to avoid queue. Consider a 3-4 hour visit

The Bargello Museum is housed in the ancient Palazzo del Podestà in Florence. His collection of Renaissance sculptures is one of the most beautiful in the world with works by Donatello, Luca della Robbia, Verrocchio and Michelangelo. Consider a 2-3 hour visit

The Pitti Palace contains 7 museums in 1: the Palatine Gallery, the Treasury of the Grand Dukes, the Museum of Fashion and Costume, the Imperial and Royal Apartments, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Palatine Chapel and the Museum of Russian Icons. We highly recommend this museum. Consider a 3-4 hour visit

Celebrations and Events

San Giovanni’s “fochi” is the final event of San Giovanni’s celebrations. Do not miss the parade in historical costume through the streets of the city center with arrival in Piazza Santa Croce where the final of the Florentine historical football takes place.

Celebrations and Events

At the end of the celebrations, on June 24, after the costume parade and the final of the historic football, you will be amazed by a beautiful fireworks display. The most spectacular spot to see it, is on the Lungarno della Zecca or near the Torre di S. Niccolò. We recommend walking or cycling to avoid getting stuck in traffic. See the official website with more information about the other events by clicking on the button below.

Palazzo Strozzi, located in the center of Florence, is home to temporary exhibitions of the highest level. In addition to exhibitions of great classics, contemporary artists are often proposed. See on the official website by clicking on the button below to know what’s on at the moment.

Wagon Burst is a Florentine tradition that takes place every year on Easter morning in Piazza Duomo. First the cart is transported from Piazzale di Porta al Prato to Piazza Duomo, then crosses the streets of the center, escorted by 150 among armed musicians and flag bearers of the Historical Parade of the Florentine Republic. Food & wine

In the Florentine hills there are farmhouses and farms that offer food and wine tasting in beautiful rural scenery, where the vine and olive trees are the masters. We recommend a drive, for example, in the Via Chiantigiana, known as SR222 and also called the Chianti wine road, where you can find some of the most famous wineries. For a tour, we recommend to rely on one of the various expert guides who will present you the stages of tastings.

In our neighborhood, for a typical Tuscan lunch or dinner, we recommend the restaurant “IL VECCHIO CIGNO”, which also has outdoor tables in spring and summer. For pizza lovers , a few meters away there is the pizzeria “ORTO DEL CIGNO”. They are both overlooking the river Arno. After a few steps you will find a good homemade ice cream shop. In the same promenade, that runs along the river, on summer you will find more and more food stands. For lovers of grilled meat you will find a restaurant with a large outdoor space with tables and games for children. Following the pedestrian and cycle path towards the center, the riverbank you will find also several stands of fish. On the street to Arezzo there are other restaurants, pizzerias, kebabs, Japanese cuisine, Chinese, homemade ice cream and bars, all of good quality. We suggest the excellent “ROSTICCERIA ANGELO” with takeaway, for those who want to dine in the apartment without cooking.

BUS — To reach the historic centre take bus no. 14 from the “Rocca Tedalda Aretina” stop. We recommend downloading the “AT BUS autolinee toscane” app where you can purchase your ticket (select “urbano capoluogo”). If you purchase your ticket online, you must always validate it on board. It is also possible to purchase the ticket directly on board with a contactless card.

BICYCLE PATH — We would like to point out the beautiful cycle path that starts near our location and leads directly to the Ponte Vecchio along the green and peaceful bank of the Arno River. It will be wonderful to enjoy a ride through nature while observing the wonders of the city at a slow pace!
